"ILLUSION" AWARDED AS "BEST OF THE BEST"

“Illusion” by Duropal has been awarded as “Best of the Best” at Interzum

Arnsberg/Cologne, June 2011 – There is one particular award that Meinolf Hering, who heads the Duropal Business Unit in the Pfleiderer Group, can be especially pleased with: the surface structure Illusion, manufactured by this HPL expert with headquarters in Arnsberg, has been awarded the title Best of the Best by the Interzum jury. This innovative surface structure, with its soft waves simulating a 3D effect several centimetres deep, was previously limited in the stock programme to just a few selected solid colours. In this exhibition
year, HPL expert Duropal has augmented its characteristic Illusion collection with current design trend decors.

With nine new colourways Duropal are carrying on the success of their first hybrid, the innovative surface structure Illusion, whose soft waves produce a 3D effect several centimeters deep. Until now the stocked range was limited to a few selected plain colours but the HPL specialist will add further contemporary and stylish decors to their Illusion collection.

“As central theme are the fashionable colours white, grey and black,” says Product Manager Peter Röhr. “Even we at Duropal were inspired by the symbiosis between our plain and mother-of-pearl decors combined with
Illusion. Pale, plain colours such as light grey or platinum grey appear subtle and reserved, with their lines and delicate sheen shifting with the viewing angle. Combined with dark shades such as Congo, Plum or Anthracite,
however, Illusion’s 3D effect comes fully into play.

“For the beholder, the attraction lies in the almost impossible boundary between physical reality and optical depth,” states Duropal Product Manager Peter Röhr: “The eye perceives a two-dimensional image and yet develops an illusion of three-dimensionality.” This play between physical reality and virtual absence has inspired, amongst others, the designers at the international lifestyle brand ESPRIT who have incorporated Illusion in their flagship stores concept.

With their own Illusion collection Duropal designers have been given more opportunities to create remarkable highlights using high pressure laminate and make small rooms appear visually larger – and all this combined with the excellent, proven properties of HPL.
